Ben Morgan on crisis communications
SCC is pleased to announce guest speaker Benjamin Morgan, MA in Professional Communication alumus and supervisor, Crisis Communications with the City of Calgary.

Benjamin Morgan is a dynamic communications professional with over nine years of expertise in public and media relations, issues management, and crisis communications. He recently completed the Royal Roads MA Professional Communications where he focused on crisis communication and the influences of new media. His experience and education was recently tested as he played an integral role in Calgary’s communication response to the 2013 flood as The City of Calgary’s Supervisor of Crisis Communications.
During his 16 years as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic, Benjamin served as the Public and Media Relations Officer for the City of Calgary Emergency Medical Services. During his tenure, he regularly appeared in local and national television, radio, and print media. Media strategies, media training, public service campaigns, key message development, crisis communication, and event management, underpin his career accomplishments.
Benjamin’s commitment and passion for the communications industry extend beyond employment. He is a member of The International Association of Business Communicators, and has been involved with Toastmasters, the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, the Calgary Public Relations Society, and several community-based groups.
In 2009, Benjamin founded Both Sides Media Consulting Group, a communication consulting agency which offers strategic communication, media relations consulting and training primarily to Calgary’s not-for-profit sector.
