Communication Matters: The CRTC and Canadian Content

Join us for the third panel in the Communication Matters series where faculty and students will discuss whether there is a need for a new regulatory model for television broadcasters in a cross-platform universe.

Panelists

Jeff Orr (moderator) is the School of Communication and Culture’s BAPC Program Head and an Associate Faculty.

Steve Fanning is a MAPC Student and Vancouver-based broadcaster who has worked at a variety of radio stations throughout British Columbia over the past fifteen years. He has hosted morning radio shows in Prince George and Abbotsford, and has also hosted radio programs in Smithers, Chilliwack, and Vancouver. As a freelance voice-over artist and announcer, he has worked for The Prince George Cougars and Vancouver Giants of the WHL, The Abbotsford Heat of the AHL, and The Vancouver Canadians of baseball's Pacific Coast League.

Pete Gingras is a MAPC Student and has over 25 years of experience in Broadcast Journalism including the position as News Director with Global Television, and eight years as a Journalism Instructor.


Kelley Ryder is a MAPC Student who has held several management positions including Senior Account Director with Outcrop Communications (current), Marketing Manager of Media Relations & Communications for three Caesar’s Las Vegas properties, Manager of Corporate Communications for Medavie Blue Cross, Marketing Manager/National Brand Manager for EastLink, Promotions Director, Music Director and Operations Manager. She also has experience as an on-air personality and entertainment columnist.
