In celebration of Black History Month, Student Services invites you to join us for the screening of the documentary ‘Secret Victoria: Rush to Freedom’ by Melinda Friedman. The documentary is about Governor James Douglas, who in the 1850s fought against American expansionism by bringing over hundreds of Black Americans from San Francisco to British Columbia. The legacy of this population is still felt today.

Visit this webpage to register for the event.

Here’s the link to the documentary. The screening will be followed by a discussion and dialogue about the film as well as Black History Month.
