Film Screening with the ResiliencebyDesign Lab
"Step Up" - short film screening & chat: Facilitating video conversations for data generation & social/policy change
Wednesday, April 26 noon to 1 p.m.
Centre for Dialogue, LIC 4th Floor
The ResiliencebyDesign (RbD) Lab invites you to a film screening and dialogue session highlighting BC and Alberta youth’s perspectives on increasing disaster risk and the challenges they face in a changing climate. The short film “Step Up”—produced in partnership with Kingtide Films—is a key output of the RbD Lab’s recent SSHRC-funded knowledge synthesis project focusing on climate change and children/youth’s health and wellbeing.
Through the project, the RbD Lab determined that youth’s perspectives are largely absent from research and policy on disaster risk reduction and climate change mitigation and adaptation. In response, the film encourages a more meaningful knowledge exchange amongst youth, policy officials, decision-makers, community members and other stakeholders about how Canada should move forward to reduce disaster and climate risks, increase community resilience and encourage transformative climate adaptation initiatives.
Join us in watching the film followed by an interactive activity for participants to engage in how they might use filmmaking in practice as a conversation spark that can both generate research data and lead to positive social and/or policy change.
Cookies and coffee will be provided
