Royal Roads University and the West Shore Arts Council are pleased to present a screening of Whatever the Cost: Hatley Park and the Dunsmuirs August 18 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The film, produced for Royal Roads University Archives by filmmakers David Springbett and Heather MacAndrew, documents the lives of the prominent Dunsmuir family. The screening takes place in the Hatley Castle drawing room followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
The event also features musical performances by vocalist Elizabeth Gerow and pianist Jannie Burdeti. Gerow has extensively researched the life and music of Elinor Dunsmuir. The Dusmuir daughter was an accomplished pianist and composer. Gerow will perform several of Elinor’s original songs accompanied by Burdeti.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments and light snacks will be served. Period dress is optional and free tours of the Japanese garden will happen after the event. Tickets are free with a minimum $10 donation.
