This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions. Since 1949, the Geneva Conventions have been protecting victims of armed conflict. At the same time, violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) persist. The nature of warfare is changing, and constant efforts are needed to ensure compliance with IHL, including the need for neutral and impartial humanitarian action.
Alongside our BA Justice Studies class, please join us on May 1, 2019 for a special live webcast on IHL and successes and challenges to implementation. Catherine Gribbin, Senior Legal Advisor, IHL at the Canadian Red Cross will provide an introduction to the rules of IHL and discuss the relevance of the Geneva Conventions, seven decades later.
Watch the session on Livestream. Additional limited seats will be available in the Centre for Dialogue.
