Inspiring Connections Alumni Learning and Leadership Workshop
Learn and be nourished
Royal Roads invites you back into the classroom for an engaging evening to learn about Design Thinking. The evening will begin with a talk from local urban farmers Angela Moran and Jesse Brown from Mason Street City Farm. RRU School of Business assistant professor Amy Zidulka and School of Environment and Sustainability associate faculty member Derek Masselink will then guide you through an experience of Design Thinking, an approach to problem solving that can help you understand your clients better and generate creative ideas based on feedback from the world around you.
The goal will be to collectively envision possible futures for Mason Street City Farm and explore the multi-faceted issues surrounding urban farming. Participants will leave with new perspectives on urban farming and its role in Victoria, as well as knowledge of the Design Thinking methodology, which they might apply in their own contexts. Central to the Design Thinking approach is the belief that new thinking emerges from unearthing previously unvoiced perspectives. With that in mind we hope to see both those passionate about urban farming and food issues and those that are unfamiliar with the conversation. All perspectives are valuable.
