The university’s sign on Sooke Rd. will be lit with purple and Royal Roads will host activities throughout the day and into the next week.
You can participate on campus and online:
Building Resilience and Managing Stress Workshops
Online: Wednesday Oct. 10, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for students via Blackboard Collaborate.
On-campus: Wednesday Oct. 17, 12 to 1 p.m. for students and staff in the Hatley Castle drawing room. To learn more or register, visit the workshop calendar.
Light up Purple: Cards of Compassion
Wednesday Oct. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the LIC lounge and Sherman Jen hub
Stop by one of two stations to write a card of appreciation to someone in your life. Expressing gratitude has mental health benefits for both the giver and receiver. Royal Roads Student Services will provide cards, envelopes and stamps, and some purple treats.
Tuesday, Oct. 9 to Friday, Oct. 12 in the library lounge and Sherman Jen Building hub
Release stress and practice mindfulness at the colouring murals. This year’s mural theme is “Shapes of Purple.”
Wednesday, Oct. 10, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. in Hatley Castle 121.
Join Linda Nelson for a 20-minute guided group meditation. Studies show meditation has extensive mental and physical health benefits. Everyone is welcome. No previous experience is necessary.
Comedian Kevin Breel
Tuesday, Oct. 30, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Sherman Jen Building Room 113
Mental health writer, activist and comedian Kevin Breel will share stories and laughs with students, faculty and staff. Feel free to bring a lunch.
