National Indigenous (Aboriginal) Day
Royal Roads University, Indigenous Education & Student Services is hosting a National Aboriginal Day event on Friday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We’d be happy if you could help us spread the word about this day of celebration and also invite you to attend this day of festivities.
We will have a wide variety of events:
- Salish weave exhibit - 19 Coast Salish Art pieces were donated to Sneq’wa e’lun (Blue Heron House) by George & Christiane Smyth, which we will be weaved with archival photos.
Canoe rides - Power to Be has kindly donated staff and helping hands to this day. Here is their waiver to be filled out by any people joining (adult or youth) for an opportunity to get out on the water (weather permitting).
Nature walk with Kenneth Elliott along Charlie’s Trail
Drumming & singing
Tea, bannock, and other snacks/beverages
Meet members of the RRU Elders Circle
A more detailed agenda will be sent out later this week.
We look forward to sharing this day with you, whether you are here in spirit or are the helping hands to make it a successful, fun day!
