Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at Royal Roads University on the shore of Esquimalt Lagoon and the traditional lands of the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.
The event features a traditional Coast Salish canoe landing protocol led by Songhees Nation Elder Butch Dick, a canoe challenge, traditional drumming, singing and dancing, children’s field games, traditional snacks, craft workshops, artists, vendors and more.
National Indigenous Peoples Day 2018 is co-hosted by Royal Roads University, the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, University of Victoria, Camosun College and the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (ISPARC).
