SCRIPTING YOUR RESEARCH - Why and How to Share Your Work through Arts-Based Research Methods
A mini-workshop with Geo Takach
Goal Drawing on Geo’s recently published book based on a case study in three media, this one-hour workshop explores how you (and your students) can engage audiences, both within the academy and particularly beyond it, in research through arts-based forms, particularly via storytelling.
Approach Sharing bits of a multi-format case study in place-identity and environmental communication that incorporates visual, framing and discourse analyses, while also building on screenwriting and playwriting theory, Geo proposes a framework for writing scripts for diverse formats. This framework draws on authorial choices of seven key storytelling elements, alongside criteria proposed to evaluate arts-based research culled from recent scholarly literature.
Bring an idea! Attendees are encouraged to bring their own idea for a story drawing on their own research interests, for sharing and comment in light of our learning at the workshop.
