Join Royal Roads University's Scholarly Communications Librarian Devina Dandar on the Quarterdeck Jan. 23 from noon to 1 p.m. for her presentation: Increasing the Impact of Your Research Through Open Access Publishing.

Publishing your research for maximum impact and visibility involves thinking strategically about the audience for your research. Open Access (OA) makes published academic research freely and permanently available online with full rights for anyone to build upon the research. As an author, how does choosing to publish OA support you in optimising your visibility and research impact?

During this interactive session, we will explore options for OA publishing and how you can use them to promote the discoverability and impact of your research. We will discuss factors to consider when deciding between open access versus traditional publishing, and the benefits of open access publishing to you as an author and to society. We will also identify resources for finding and evaluating reputable open access publishers, and learn about Royal Roads University Library services and resources to support open access publishing.

Participants will be able to:

• Explore open access publishing options to optimise research impact

• Evaluate open access publishers using a critical lens

• Identify Royal Roads University Library services and resources for open access publishing

Cookies & coffee will be provided.

Research Services gratefully acknowledges the funding support of the Research Support Fund (RSF) in the development of this initiative. The RSF is administered by the Tri-Agency Institutional Programs Secretariat.
