Abstract: In August 2015, RRU Professor Charles Krusekopf travelled to North Korea as part of a tour group that visited the capital, Pyongyang, a recently opened town that is the centre of the country's efforts to develop satellites, the Panmunjom border area with South Korea and by train through the north to China. The visit came in the middle of an escalating dispute with South Korea that included artillery fire across the border and propaganda blasts from three story tall speakers. In the end, a resolution was reached and the trip was on, offering a carefully controlled visit to the most repressive country in the world. Dr. Krusekopf will share images and stories from his visit, revealing a glimpse of the humanity and tragedy of North Korea today.
