Please join Dr. Robin Cox for her Roads to Research Presentation: Youth, Innovation and Resilience - An update on the Creative Action Research projects of the Resilience By Design Research Lab

Wednesday, April 13 at noon on the Quarterdeck

Abstract:

The RRU ResiliencebyDesign (RbD) Research Lab was officially launched on July 8th, 2015. Since then, the team has initiated several exciting research projects engaging youth in Social Innovation and Creative Action Research. Working with youth in Southern Alberta, the RbD has been exploring resilience innovation with youth through serious gaming, youth-centric design thinking, and a host of experiential activities.  As part of their work with youth, the RbD Lab has also been developing and piloting a new RRU Continuing Studies certificate in Resilience Innovation Skills.

This session will highlight some of the work of the RbD lab including youth-generated photo-stories of community resilience, youth perspectives on place-based resilience and climate change adaptation, a youth-informed disaster resilience board game created by the RbD team, and a swarm-theory approach to engaging youth in policy development to help guide Canada’s response to the Sendai Disaster Risk Reduction framework, 2015-2030. Join us for an engaging, interactive session that highlights the insights, ideas, and innovations of the RbD lab and the youth with whom they are working.
