Royal Roads Library

You're invited to join Indigenous Education and Student Services and Library staff to celebrate the completion of the Royal Roads Library Button Blanket Project at 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.

On this day we will publically acknowledge the artist Maxine Matilpi (Kalugwis, Kwakwakawakw) and her husband John Livingston who both assisted with the design and creation of the button blanket.

Along this journey, we had the opportunity to learn from Maxine and John about the historical aspects of button blankets from the Kwakwakawakw traditions. Royal Roads staff and students also had the opportunity to create their own small wall hanging.

This celebration is a great opportunity to ask questions and to view Maxine's collection of button blankets that will be on display in the library's interpretation space.

Please join us to hear the story and the background of the Royal Roads Button Blanket Project.

Light refreshments and snacks will be available.
