Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park

Come one, come all to RRU’s version of Speakers’ Corner, showcasing the writing and oratorical talents of students of RRU’s blended BA in Professional Communication program! Drop by and catch a couple of the fabulous three-minute speeches delivered by 28 first-year students to cap their two-week residency, in homage to that famous font of free speech in Hyde Park, London.

The topics and presenters promise to be dazzling in their diversity and virtuosity. The speeches are the final projects in a new course, Public Persuasion (COMM352), taught by Dr. Geo Takach in the School of Communication and Culture.

The curtain rises from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17 on the pedestrian thoroughfare south of the Grant Building near the top of the Neptune staircase. In the tragic case of inclement weather, the festivities will move up to the CFD on the fourth floor of the LIC.

Consider taking a few minutes to join us and cheer on the students. You’ll recognize them by their podium, microphone and amplification. Hope to see you there!
