A rising wave of voices has called for Facebook users to delete their accounts following the recent Cambridge Analytica data collection scandal.
Assoc. Prof. David Black, political communications expert in the School of Communication and Culture, spoke with CBC British Columbia and CHEK News on what the #deletefacebook movement means for the future.
Here is an excerpt from his interview on CHEK:
“They’re not going to go away. They’re going to continue to monopolize in many ways how we do business, how we talk among ourselves. It’s our obligation as users of Facebook and other similar systems to begin to demand accountability.”
