School of Communication and Culture Associate Professor David Black was interviewed by three media outlets (CBC Radio Victoria, CTV Vancouver Island and CFAX Radio) Aug. 22to 23 for his analysis of the new B.C. Liberal campaign ad and the strategy for running it nine months before the provincial election.
Black says the long campaign benefits the party with the most money and suggests we are in an era of the “permanent campaign”.
Here is an excerpt from the CFAX interview:
“This is a sign of a party that’s confident in their chances. In political communication, this is what we call “frame setting”. They want their context for conversation about their economic competence.”
