School of Business Professor Terry Power was quoted in the Times Colonist March 13 about the impacts to the Canadian economy if we tried to change daylight savings time.

“While some may debate the need for the time change, there’s not much Canada can do about it as it cannot afford to be out of step with its largest trading partner [the U.S.],” says Power.
“The economic reality is we can do nothing about it whether we want to or not. If you cut an hour out and you’re out of sync … there’s a potential 25 per cent impact on your [gross national product].”
