Christie on anti-corruption detentions in Saudi Arabia
November 9, 2017
Prof. Ken Christie, Human Security and Peacebuilding Program program head, is interviewed about 32-year-old Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's crackdown on corruption and money laundering. At least 11 members of the royal family are currently detained by security forces in that nation.
"I think there's a variety of things going on," Christie says. "I think that Prince Mohammed is trying to consolidate his power and one of the ways to consolidate your power in the Arab world is to arrest the people you think are your potential opponents."
