They have the potential to seriously injure someone, and it appears the target is military personnel. Someone planted metal spikes and barbed wire in the playing fields at CFB Esquimalt, and it’s not the first time it has happened. CFAX reporter Mary Griffin speaks with School of Humanitarian Studies Prof. Ken Christie about why someone would do this.
"It does sound to me like it's a lone individual, maybe they're alienated or disenchanted with the military," says Christie. "They want to see what kind of reaction that they can provoke."
