How to work effectively with Gen Y
Prof. Carolin Rekar Munro discusses her new book, Managing the New Generation: A practical guide for understanding and meeting workplace expectations of Generation Y, with CBC All Points West. In the interview, she gives an overview of the challenges that exist in intergenerational workplaces and how we can put aside stereotypes and meet in the middle. She also offers some insight into the attributes of Millennials.
“This generation is the most ethnically diverse generation,” says Rekar Munro. “They’re the generation that is most digitally wired and the most proficient in terms of technology. They’re coming in with an entrepreneurial spirit that we’ve never seen in any of the generations. And to top that off, they thrive on the frenzied speed of technology and this is mirrored in everything they do, including their relationships.”
