Stop and count the flowers in Great Victoria

School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Director and Prof. Brian White welcomed organizers from the Victoria Flower Count and last year’s winner, the City of Colwood, to Royal Roads University’s Italian Garden to promote this year’s count. The Goldstream News Gazette was on hand to capture Colwood Mayor Carol Hamilton rallying up her “secret weapon” – students from École John Stubbs to help Colwood win the flower count challenge for a third, consecutive year. The 2016 Victoria Flower Count runs March 3 to 9.

 Here is an excerpt from the Feb. 15 article:

 “The flower rivalry mirrors history,” says White. “Laura Dunsmuir, who resided in RRU’s Hatley Castle, and Jennie Butchart, who founded the now world-famous Butchart Gardens, also had a friendly rivalry in establishing their own gardens.”
