Takach on MEC boycott of firearm firms

School of Communication and Culture Assoc. Prof. Geo Takach spoke with Société Radio-Canada (the CBC en français) on the decision by BC-based Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) to cease dealing with suppliers with holdings in companies manufacturing assault-type weapons in the wake of the recent mass shooting at a high school in Florida.

Takach says not only does MEC’s decision make good sense from a public-relations perspective, but it could also become a turning point in raising the profile of corporate morality and ethics in the public sphere.
