Charles Chandler appointed to Royal Roads Board of Governors
An experienced financial professional and community volunteer has been appointed by the provincial government to the Royal Roads University Board of Governors effective Dec. 14, 2016.
Charles (Chuck) Chandler has practiced as a chartered professional accountant and chartered business valuator for more than 30 years, focusing much of his professional and volunteer work on making a positive contribution to his community and British Columbia.
“Chuck’s financial experience will add tremendously to the already impressive and varied expertise we have on the board,” says Chancellor and Board of Governors Chair Wayne Strandlund. “I welcome his appointment and look forward to working with him.”
Chandler is a partner with Grant Thornton LLP and former partner at Hayes Stewart Little & Co. in Victoria. His business practice focuses on private companies and professionals, as well as audits for non-profit organizations, business valuations and litigation support. He is also a fellow and past president of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.
His public service includes chairing the accounting policy advisory committee to the B.C. Minister of Finance from 2008 to 2012.
“Chuck is a welcome addition to the board at Royal Roads,” says President and Vice-Chancellor Allan Cahoon. “His business acumen and outstanding financial experience are very helpful at this exciting time in the evolution of Royal Roads as B.C.'s most innovative demand-driven research university.”
Chandler has served as treasurer and board member of the YMCA/YWCA of Vancouver Island and as chair and board member of the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island.
