Winners announced at Royal Roads International Undergraduate Case Competition
During three intense days of competition, 20 teams honed valuable business skills at the 11th annual Royal Roads University International Undergraduate Case Competition, held April 4-6.
The competition culminated on Saturday, when four finalists presented in the Learning and Innovation Centre. HEC Montreal took the top prize. The three runners up were Singapore Management University (2nd), Simon Fraser University (3rd) and the University of Florida (4th).
“It was a truly wonderful event,” said Pedro Márquez, dean of the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University. “We achieved our overall objective of providing an opportunity for students to practise and improve business skills so they are better prepared for their professional careers.”
Students and staff from the Bachelor of Commerce program at Royal Roads University organize the event which attracted teams from outside North America (Norway and Singapore) for the first time this year. “We have built a great reputation as the competition to attend,” said competition co-chair Samantha Wood, program manager of the BCom programs at Royal Roads University. “Teams were learning from each other. It was a very collegial atmosphere.”
During the three days, the teams were presented with three different cases and given three hours to review each case and prepare their recommendations. The cases were presented to panels of judges comprised of successful executives, business owners and managers. Finalists analyzed a fourth case.
