2014-2015 Pro D / Scholarly Activity Awards

As a result of the most recent call for proposals, the Professional Development/Scholarly Activity Committee has awarded 70 new one-year grants beginning April 1, 2014 (a complete list follows). The committee was pleased to note that, more than ever, several of the projects funded this year involve collaboration between two or more RRU faculty members and/or associate faculty members.

Some of the internal faculty collaboration contained within the applications includes:

  • Niels Agger-Gupta, Brigitte Harris, Eileen Piggot-Irvine, Wendy Rowe, and associate faculty member, Marie Graf are co-writing a paper on Action Research Engagement for the International Leadership Association (ILA) conference in San Diego this fall.
  • Catherine Etmanski, together with associate faculty members Guy Nasmyth, Beth Page, and Mark Fulton, has submitted a workshop proposal to the International Leadership Association conference in San Diego (October 30 – November 2, 2014).
  • Amy Zidulka, Lois Fearon, and Stephen Long and have been accepted to present Fostering Critical Thinking and Communication: Two Experiments in Curriculum Integration at the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (OBTS) for Management Educator’s Conference in Nashville in June 2014. 
  • In a continuation of their examination of how faculty members and students experience and resolve barriers to transformative pedagogical models Brigitte Harris and Jennifer Walinga have had a presentation accepted at the 21st International Conference on Learning, New York, July 14-17, 2014.
  • June this year, Amy Zidulka, Carolin Rekar-Munro, and Ingrid Kajzer-Mitchell will present Leveraging the Advantages of Online Learning: Stories and Discussion at the at the OBTS Teaching Conference for Management Educators in in Nashville
  • Stephen Long and Hassan Wafai are collaborating on a detailed research project entitled Management Innovation
  • Virginia McKendry and William White (RRU Aboriginal Advisory Council) will be co-presenting a paper to the 9th Annual International Social Sciences Conference (UBC, Vancouver, June 11-3)
  • Eileen Piggot-Irvine’s ongoing Evaluative Study of Action Research project has an international team of researchers that includes Bernard Schissel and Wendy Rowe.
  • As an extension of their work on stress thriving that was published in the Journal of Workplace Health Management (2013, Vol 6) Wendy Rowe and Jennifer Walinga will submit a paper in the area of leadership thriving for the International Leadership Conference in San Diego this fall.
  • Brigitte Harris, Eileen Piggot-Irvine and associate faculty member and Director of Research Services Deborah Zornes will attend the the International School on Research Impact Assessment course that will be held in Banff, Alberta, Sept. 7-11, 2014.

This list does not include many faculty members who are collaborating with RRU students or collaborating with those from other universities and organisations, nor does it include the many RRU collaborations taking place outside of this particular funding opportunity.
