We invite you to join us for the 2014 ALS Walk in memory of Lyla Fattore, a former colleague and friend of many at the university.

Lyla was seconded from the Ministry of Advanced Education with eight other people on June 15, 1995 for one month to help start Royal Roads University. She ended up staying for more than 15 years until ALS started affecting her health. While the impact she made on Royal Roads is hard to sum up, highlights include her role in organizing the installation of our first president and the hiring all of the original support staff for Royal Roads. She organized convocations and started the annual Christmas tree trimming party. She oversaw building renovations and classroom scheduling, ordered furniture and co-ordinated with film crews on campus.

Every year a team walks in her honour in Victoria’s ALS Walk which takes place Sunday, Sept. 14 this year at the University of Victoria.
