Alumnus leads North Saanich Hockeyville bid
Royal Roads MBA alumnus and local minor hockey super dad, Jason Fletcher, crafted a submission to the Kraft Hockeyville contest on behalf of North Saanich’s Panorama Recreation Centre, besting 1,037 other submissions from every corner of Canada - and it made it to the top five in the west. That led to 49 hours of voting last weekend wherein hundreds of thousands of votes for North Saanich were cast. Now it’s time to find out the results.
This Saturday, March 28 at approximately 7:45 p.m. PST, the top two finalists will be announced during first intermission of Hockey Night in Canada.
One successful arena from the west and one from the east will each be awarded $100,000 for arena improvements and then go on to face off against each other for the grand prize of the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game.
It’s easy to support our alumnus Jason and our local community. All you have to do is click and vote, vote, vote. Should the Panorama Recreation Center reach the top two finalists, your votes (yes, you can vote more than once!) will help our local community. Organizers estimate that they will need as many as four million votes to be triumphant.
Online voting will open at http://www.khv2015.ca/en/
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING the announcement (around 8:00 p.m.) and closes Monday, March 30 at 7:59 p.m. PST.
The announcement for the grand prize of the NHL pre-season game will occur Saturday, April 4 during Hockey Night in Canada with live television hits from Panorama Recreation Centre.
Kudos to Jason for leading this community initiative - another alumnus working to change lives!
