From the Archives: 1955 football champs
The 2014 Grey Cup is not being played outside this year, but there are plenty of championship football games that fight the elements, especially in Canada in the late fall. The game for the Hibbard Cup of 1955 was one of those games, with chilly challenges of snow and strong winds. As you can read in the Log yearbook here and here, although the winter conditions subdued the team of seniors from the Canadian Services College, Royal Roads, it did not stop them. They faced the HMCS Venture team, who had previously beat them that year 55 - 4. In this messy, cold game, however, Royal Roads prevailed and squeaked by with a score of 6 to 5. Go team!
