On behalf of all of us at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, and most especially the Bachelor of Arts in International Hotel Management team, we are pleased to announce the two students who will be representing Royal Roads University at the Young Hoteliers Summit 2019 in Lausanne, Switzerland, this March.

Please join us in congratulating fourth year BAIHM students Summers Ding and Miranda Brendel!

Miranda and Summers will travel to Switzerland to participate in several days of workshops, competitions and networking events at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.

The Young Hotelier’s Summit was founded in 2010 by five students from the Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, which hosts the summit each year. Participants from 44 post-secondary institutions across the world will be in attendance at the 10th edition of the summit, where they will have the opportunity to connect with other aspiring leaders and industry professionals in hospitality.

Congratulations to all of the applicants. This year was a particularly tough competition for these two coveted spots, and although this made our job quite challenging, the panel (Theresa Mackay, Troy Townsend, Barb Collombin and Moira McDonald) were impressed with the calibre of our students. Well done to all.

We wish Summers and Miranda all the best on their journey to Switzerland and in their future careers as hoteliers.
