BAPC hosts Global Communication Panel Event
BA Professional Communication (BAPC) associate faculty member Olaolu Adeleye invited community members into the classroom for a panel discussion on The “Other” & “Race, Indigneity, Whiteness Studies & Cosmopolitanism". Panelists included: Boma Brown - Vancouver Island Public Interest Research Group; Alvaro Moreno - Victoria Immigrant & Refugee Centre Services; and, Steven Baileys - Inter-Cultural Association of Victoria.
The panel members represented local Victoria organizations with mandates to support awareness, visibility and inclusion of new families and minority groups. The purpose of the panel event on May 9 to discuss the importance of these themes within our society, and frame the discussion on the backdrop of their relevance within Global Communication. The event formed part of COMM 415 Global Communication course offered in the BAPC on-campus program. The session concluded with an opportunity for students to ask the panel questions in line with some of the theories discussed in weekly readings.
