BBA student wins scholarship to Japan

Showa students at RRU meet scholarship winner, Candace Forbes

The International Contract Training team is pleased to announce that BBA student, Candace Forbes is the successful scholarship recipient of the Showa Women’s University (SWU) Summer International Program (SSIP). SWU has previously sent three groups of students from Japan to RRU for short-term, job skills and work experience programs. As an expression of appreciation, SWU offered one female student complimentary program fees to the three week program that will take place in Tokyo, Japan this summer. Applicants were asked to provide written or video submissions answering the question “Explain how this experience of studying Japanese culture and traditions will enhance your learning as part of your RRU degree and what you feel you will be able to contribute to the classroom and share with the students at SWU in Japan.

Candace became the successful candidate after the review panel chose her enthusiastic video submission and we are thrilled that she will be representing RRU at our partner institution. The day after Candace received the good news, she had the opportunity to meet eight Showa students during the closing ceremonies of their three week Work Experience Program on Friday, March 6th at Hatley Castle.
