BC wildfires and how to help

As the growing number of BC wildfires put the province in a state of emergency, an estimated 14,000 people have been displaced from their homes, and those numbers are expected to rise with thousands more on evacuation alert.

Our hearts and thoughts are with those affected by these wildfires and we hope everyone remains safe and secure.

If members of the Royal Roads community would like to help families who have been impacted by the fires, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross BC Fires Appeal. Money collected will be put towards financial assistance for families and to purchase needed items such as cots, blankets, food and clothing. It will also help people get back into their communities and begin their long-term recovery once it’s safe to return.
