A team of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science students completed their degree program on a high note with an award from the Vancouver Island chapter of the Air & Wastewater Management Association (A&WWMA).

Ershad Anari, Andrew Antal, Kristina Beckmann and Zichun (Pink) Xu received the A&WWMA Presentation Award for the development of a children's guidebook to the flora, fauna and fungi of Hatley Park. The guidebook will be used in Sangster Elementary School's Nature Kindergarten program, which takes place on the grounds and forest lands of Royal Roads.

The team consulted with early childhood educators, traditional knowledge holders and young children - among other experts - to translate scientific and ecological concepts for young children.
