Call for stories: SSHRC Storytellers contest

Each year, SSHRC challenges postsecondary students to show Canadians how social sciences and humanities research is affecting our lives, our world and our future prosperity. The results are clever, inventive, funny, moving, inspirational and educational.

Send them your pitch—in three minutes or 300 words—telling them about a great SSHRC-funded project happening at Royal Roads University.

The project can be yours or it can be a professor’s (get their permission first!), but your pitch needs to be creative, compelling and clear. You also need to be a Canadian resident, at least 19 years old, and enrolled at a Canadian postsecondary institution.

For contest details, and to see previous years winners, visit SSHRC Storytellers.

Contact Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council with any questions.

The deadline to submit your entry is Jan. 31, 2019, 5 p.m. EST.

Prizes

In Phase 1, the top 25 submissions will receive a cash prize of $3,000.

In Phase 2, those top 25 finalists will join us at the 2019 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at The University of British Columbia, to attend a special communications master class and deliver a live presentation at the Storytellers Showcase. At this showcase event, judges will select the final five winners, who will receive an expense-paid trip for their presentations to be featured at the 2019 SSHRC Impact Awards event.
