University Drive Roadwork
Upgrades to campus services has resumed south on University Drive. Alternating single lane traffic is in effect from Parking Lot 3 (P3) south to the Boathouse. Flaggers are in place to assist with traffic flow. Please watch for construction trucks and flaggers.
All staff, students and visitors to campus are reminded to obey the posted speed limits and watch for flaggers who may be directing traffic.
Safe driving on campus is essential to everyone’s wellbeing.
The new LIC generator between Nixon and LIC will be installed next week. Please travel with care between LIC, Nixon and Grant.
West Campus Deferred Maintenance
Work around the West Campus continues, with upgrades to campus services (power, data, water, drainage and lighting). Excavation of the old pool building is on track. The new water main to the Recreation Centre is complete.
Repairs and replacement of damaged sections of the roads and parking areas on campus are underway, with many areas already completed.
Migration of LIC to the upgraded network is scheduled to take place beginning Friday, May 24 at 4 p.m. to Saturday, May 25 at 10 p.m. The LIC network services (wired and WiFi) outage during this change window will be staggered by the floors based on their availability, e.g., no classes are in progress and concerned stakeholders have agreed to the outage beforehand. The network services outage will be extended to May 26 only in the event of a major implementation issue or if a rollback of the changes are required.
The network implementation team working with Scheduling is aware of all the bookings and events in LIC over the May 24 weekend and will do their best to ensure network services are available to those rooms while classes or events are in progress. Through Student Engagement and other key stakeholders, targeted communiqués about the migration of LIC to the upgraded network will be issued to the concerned students, faculty and staff.
The LIC early adopters, including the Campus Store and Guest Services Desk, will not be impacted during the scheduled change window.
The network implementation team will be actively monitoring the LIC network for any issues after the migration is complete and will provide onsite support on Monday, May 27.
