Canada’s economic interest in Taiwan & China
School of Business associate faculty member Hugh Stephens’ opinion-editorial on Taiwan-China relations was published in the online issue of The Globe and Mail June 1. In it he outlines Taiwan and mainland China’s political dynamics and how their “ambiguous” relationship has implications for Canada’s economic interests.
Here is an excerpt:
“There is certainly scope for Canada to do more with Taiwan to advance its economic interests, and to strengthen cultural and educational ties for mutual benefit. To the extent that China and Taiwan can agree to maintain peaceful and productive bilateral dialogue, this is good news for Canada.”
