Carla Funk a Top 25 SSHRC Storyteller
Doctor of Social Science student Carla Funk’s research is taking her from Moshi, Tanzania to the Storytellers Showcase at the 2015 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Ottawa.
Funk is a finalist in the Social Sciences and Humanities Council’s (SSHRC) Top 25 Storytellers challenge. Storyteller finalists are selected for their three-minute or 300-word presentation of how SSHRC-funded research is making a difference in the lives of Canadians.
Funk’s study, The Voice of the Recipient, investigates the nature, reach and influence of private development aid from the perspective of those at the receiving end. She interviewed aid recipients in Moshi to learn about the recipient experience of privately funded aid.
The 2015 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences will be held at May 30 to June 5 at the University of Ottawa.
