Catherine Etmanski is Director of SLS
As of April 24, 2017, Catherine Etmanski has been confirmed as the Director of the School of Leadership Studies (SLS). Catherine has been teaching online since 2005 and holds a PhD in Leadership with a focus on Adult Education from the University of Victoria, an MA in Community and International Development from the University of British Columbia and a BA in Linguistics from Simon Fraser University. Catherine joined SLS in 2012 and, in 2013, became first residency term program head for the MA Leadership program. Over the years, she developed several new courses and redesigned others, made significant contributions to the development of the MA Global Leadership program, and led the design of a proposed BA Leadership for Sustainability. She stepped in to serve as acting school director in April 2016.
Catherine has a passion for facilitating arts-based approaches to research, leadership and learning. She has also published in the areas of community-based research and engaged approaches to teaching. Her new edited book: Food Leadership: Leadership and Adult Learning for Global Food Systems Transformation (Sense Publishers, forthcoming 2017) features several contributions from the RRU community, including faculty and staff, doctoral students and alumni.
