Christmas arrives early in HR!
The Human Resources team is delighted to welcome their new colleagues, Crystal Lynam and Alexandra Volk to Royal Roads!
Crystal Lynam has assumed a one year term position as a Human Resources Advisor primarily supporting the HR needs of the Student and Academic Services departments as well as IT Services. Crystal comes to Royal Roads from the BC Public Service Office of the Representative for Children and Youth where she has worked since 2012 and has taken a leave of absence to join us. Crystal brings a wealth of HR knowledge with her and has a specialization in recruitment and selection gained in a variety of sectors both in unionized an non-unionized environments. Crystal holds an undergraduate degree in English from the University College of Cape Breton (UCCB) and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources from Nova Scotia Community College. Another impressive highlight to share is that Crystal was the Captain of the UCCB Women’s volleyball team during her time at University and was recognized as their most valuable player for her leadership, sportsmanship, and team spirit!
Alexandra Volk has assumed the role of Human Resources Associate and will be providing support to a variety of HR functions including: recruitment and selection, new employee onboarding and orientation and will be the first point of contact for the HR department. Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Human Resources Management and Leadership specialization along with an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources both from Camosun College. Alexandra began her HR career through her academic internship in 2015 with Babcock Canada Inc. where her work concentrated on recruitment, employee orientation and general HR administration support. Alexandra comes to Royal Roads most recently from BC Ferries where she further developed her applied HR knowledge in the areas of scheduling, employee relations and HR administration. While Alexandra has just concluded her first week in HR at Royal Roads she’s not new to our organization having been a Member Services Representative at the RRU Recreation Centre since 2011!
The HR team feels so grateful to receive the gift of having both Crystal and Alexandra join us here in Human Resources, on the second floor of the Nixon Building, and we encourage you to come by and join us in extending a warm RRU welcome to them both!
