Communications welcomes Ali Blythe
The Communications and Advancement team is thrilled to welcome Ali Blythe to the role of communications officer for a two-year term.
Ali is an exceptional communicator with more than 10 years of experience working as a writer, editor and content manager. With a background in communications for the development, education, government, corporate and art sectors, Ali joins Royal Roads from Squamish BC’s Quest University Canada, where he held the role of communications officer. He has held previous communications positions with Alberta Education, the Victoria Hospitals Foundation and BC Transit.
Ali is an award-winning poet and editor-in-chief of the Claremont Review, an international literary magazine for youth. His first book of poems, Twoism, was released to critical acclaim in 2015 and was a finalist for the BC Book Awards. In 2017, he won the Vallum Award for Poetry for “Waking in the Preceding.” He is the recipient of an honour of distinction from the Writers Trust of Canada for emerging LGBTQ writers. Ali holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing from the University of Victoria (2009). His second book, Hymnswitch, is forthcoming in Spring 2019.
