Congratulations to Dr. Rob Mittelman
The Faculty of Management would like to offer hearty congratulations to Dr. Rob Mittelman, who was named the recipient of the Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research’s Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award for 2016 for his dissertation entitled "Charitable Giving to Distant Others" at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences 2016 in Calgary.
Rob’s doctoral thesis addresses the overarching question of why charitable donors support distant others? How do they decide whom to support? Asking the question why consumers make the choices they do when it comes to charitable giving has interested a diverse group of research scholars from a wide variety of disciplines. While a broad body of literature on charitable giving exists, less research has focused on why donors give internationally or to “distant others”.
The Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research (ANSER) is a Canadian association for those who have an interest in research that pertains broadly to nonprofit organizations and the social economy.
