Congratulations to Heidi Sherwood, our "Entrepreneur in Virtual Residence" for 2015. The Eric C. Douglass Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies recognizes the academic potential of successful entrepreneurs who have "made it big" without a BCom or an MBA. Experienced entrepreneurs, the recipients of this tuition-credit scholarship enhance our community as Entrepreneurs in (Virtual) Residence (EiVR).
Heidi Sherwood is the founder and owner of Sapphire Day Spa in Victoria, B.C. She oversees all operations including financial management, human resources, marketing, sales and client relations management. She started her business in 2005 with three staff members. Sapphire Day Spa is now one of the largest day spas in the region with thirty staff members operating a six thousand square foot facility in downtown Victoria. Her current client list has over twenty-eight thousand members. She has been nominated for two business excellence awards and has worked with the province to ensure a high industry standard for personal services.
Heidi sits on the academic advisory board for the Holistic Nutrition program at Pacific Rim Collage, has been an seasonal instructor at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, and Camosun College. She has been featured in the book Waking up the West Coast:Healers and Visionaries. She is a contributing writer for Yogic Way Magazine and a certified natural health practitioner by the examining board of Natural Medicine Practitioners. Having completed undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario and Camosun College, she discovered her passion for natural medicine and completed training at the Centre for Ayurveda. She continues to do professional development and advanced training in the area of Ayurveda. She is a MBA candidate at Royal Roads University.
