CRC welcomes new Postdoctoral Researcher

The CRC Sustainability Research Effectiveness program is pleased to welcome Dr. Paivi Abernethy as a postdoctoral researcher. Paivi’s research interest centre on assessing and improving the quality of knowledge co-production and mutual learning in sustainability governance and policy development processes. She has extensive background and work experience within academia as well as the private sector in North America and Europe. Dr. Abernethy holds a PhD in Social and Ecological Sustainability (Sustainability Policy and Governance) from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Paivi’s experience and training will contribute to the program’s focus on assessing the effectiveness and the impact of research, especially research that aims to improve livelihoods, community resilience and environmental sustainability. Her expertise will support a new SSHRC project assessing the main pathways to impact in transdisciplinary and applied research in various international contexts.
