Jens Vent-Schmidt, PhD, is excited to join the CTET learning design team as a casual Instructional Designer in June 2021. He holds a PhD in Experimental Medicine. His additional credentials include the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) Facilitator and the Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) Trainer certificates. Over the last 8 years, Jens held various positions at UBC’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology where he has been involved in consultation, needs assessment, design and facilitation of online, face-to-face and blended teaching development workshops for faculty, students, post-docs and staff. Last year, he designed the Online ISW at UBC, which he facilitated and coordinated over 5 times. Most recently, he co-designed and trained the Online FDW at UBC. Jens also held a faculty position in biology at KPU. He brings his commitment to learner-centred teaching, life-long learning and a passion for supporting and training faculty in their course design and redesign. Jens looks forward to bringing his skills to RRU and to work and learn alongside his new CTET colleagues.
