The success of School of Education and Technology Prof. Mary-Anne Neal's Dene Hero Writing Project demonstrates that the Dene spirit is alive and well in the Sahtu region of the Northwest Territories.

In the pages of Dene Heroes of the Sahtu, Dene traditions, language, values, culture and spirituality are honoured.  Written under the guidance of Prof Neal, this book is the first in a series that will stretch well into the future, connecting generations and creating a lasting legacy.

Written entirely by Dene youth themselves, these stories capture the wisdom, courage, tenacity and resilience of the Sahtu Dene people, giving the reader great hope for the future.  These young indigenous authors celebrate their own heroes within the covers of the book.

Dene Heroes of the Sahtu will be launched at a community celebration in Fort Good Hope, NWT, on January 13, 2017.
