Documentary resists Islamophobia

“It is rarely reported that Islam is seen by many as a philosophy and religion of love and peaceful cooperation,” Meghan Miller Cronkrite says in the voice-over for her film, Keep Moving Forward – Resisting Islamophobia and Building Solidarity Through Cyberactivism. Her documentary takes a critical look at the tendency of media to represent all Muslim people as terrorists, while she discusses diversity within the Muslim community and motivations for making Letter to a Terrorist with its young Muslim filmmakers. Miller Cronkrite is working toward her Master of Arts degree in International and Intercultural Communications program at Royal Roads while working at Westman Immigrant Services in Brandon, Manitoba. For more information about Miller Cronkrite and her film, see this article in the Westman Journal.
