Dr. Kathy Bishop joins SLS faculty
The School of Leadership Studies is pleased to announce our new faculty member Dr. Kathy Bishop. Dr. Bishop joins the school as an associate professor and program head for the MA in Leadership program.
Kathy brings great energy, enthusiasm, and a love of the MA in Leadership program along with academic qualifications in leadership and adult education; teaching experience at RRU, UVic, and VIU; and a multi-sectoral professional background. Starting her career as a social worker and moving into business, adult education, and the arts fields, Kathy has held key leadership positions as executive director of Woodwinds Community Support Society and executive director of the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce. She has also been an organizational consultant both nationally and internationally. Her interdisciplinary PhD at UVic blended leadership studies with applied theatre. She has written two books on personal leadership: Vision! Passion! Powerful Action! and Vision Crafting. Currently, she is pursuing research in the area of women’s heart health through research-based theatre. Kathy contends that by accessing different ways of knowing, we can engage our heads (with thinking and imagination), our hearts (with emotions and passion), and our hands (with being and doing) to lead collaborative, creative and innovative solutions for local and global change. Kathy is delighted to be joining Royal Roads in a core faculty position and we, in turn, are delighted that she has joined us. Please help us to extend a warm welcome to Dr. Kathy Bishop.
