Royal Roads faculty, associate faculty and staff are invited to participate in an upcoming professional development opportunity focused on developing skills for using Moodle to support learning. Moodle Editing and Enhancing Online (MEEO), offered four times per year by the Centre for Teaching & Educational Technologies (CTET), is a three-week online course, designed for faculty, associate faculty and staff who have basic Moodle navigational skills and would like to develop the skills necessary to build and edit a Moodle course. MEEO is facilitated by CTET instructional designers and learning technologists, and the upcoming offering starts on April 9 and runs to April 29.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify Moodle resources and activities and their applications
  • Use various Moodle resources (e.g. books, pages, URLs, etc.) to add content to a Moodle course
  • Use various Moodle activities to create engaging activities for students
  • Edit existing resources and activities in a Moodle course
  • Add media, such as images and videos, to a Moodle course
  • Identify ways of getting additional Moodle support

Past participants have shared these thoughts on their experiences of MEEO:

The instructors were very encouraging and dynamic. I liked the camaraderie amongst classmates and how we helped each other out in the use of new programs.

I loved learning that let me progress at my own pace, and to concentrate on what I wanted to concentrate on. Focusing on the mechanics of Moodle, rather than the actual content was a big plus. It let me focus on what this course really should be about, learning how to manipulate and use Moodle.

The feedback from the course facilitators was excellent. It was constructive and often included a valuable learning opportunity.

What I found the most valuable in the course was the flexibility to jump in and take the course without scheduling time away from work.

I liked the freedom to develop the course using whatever pieces I found useful, while also being encouraged to try a number of specific activities/options… being able to see what others were doing helped stimulate my own thinking.

As is the case for all CTET courses and workshops, fees for MEEO are waived for RRU faculty, associate faculty, and staff. Contact CTET Faculty Development for the discount code and more information.

Register for MEEO and other CTET offerings on the CTET page on the RRU Professional and Continuing Studies website.
